Benign adrenal tumors are noncancerous masses that form in the adrenal glands. As part of your endocrine system, the adrenal glands produce hormones that give instructions to nearly every organ and tissue in your body.
Sometimes these tumors secrete high levels of certain hormones that can lead to other health complications.
One of the most common hormones that can be over-secreted is cortisol which can result in high blood pressure and high blood glucose.
A research study is underway in San Antonio to evaluate the the safety and effectiveness of an investigational medication for patients with hypercortisolism, also known as excess cortisol levels, due to cortisol-secreting adrenal adenomas.
In order to participate, you must have an adrenal adenoma and have high blood pressure and/or high blood glucose.
