Hypertrophic Scars

Hypertrophic scars are thick clusters of scar tissue that develop directly at a wound site. They are often raised, red and/or uncomfortable and may become wider over time. Miami Derm & Laser is conducting research to determine if an investigational medication is effective in reducing redevelopment of hypertrophic scars after scar revision surgery.

Payment for scar revision surgery is not included in this study.

You may qualify if you:

Are 18-65 years old
Have at least one hypertrophic scar in the abdominal region from previous surgery or injury
Have an abdominal scar has been present for at least 12 months.

Participants May Receive:

Examination at no cost
Study-related medical care at no cost
A stipend towards the cost of scar revision surgery (not the entire cost of the surgery)
Compensation for time and travel available
