Cushing’s syndrome is a disorder that occurs when your body makes too much of the hormone cortisol over a long period of time. Cortisol is sometimes called the “stress hormone” because it helps your body respond to stress.
One of the more significant risks of excess cortisol is developing cardiovascular disease, such as heart attack, stroke and blood clots.
A research study is underway in San Antonio to evaluate the the safety and effectiveness of an investigational medication for patients living with Cushing’s syndrome.
In order to participate, you must have a previous diagnosis of Cushing’s syndrome and have high blood pressure and/or high blood glucose.
