Pneumococcal disease is an illness caused by certain germs (bacteria), called Streptococcus pneumoniae. These germs can cause serious infections in the ears, nose, lungs, blood, or brain, especially in older adults.
Vaccines help the body fight infections due to diseases like pneumococcal disease, and may help prevent serious illness. New vaccines must be tested to show that they work.
East Coast Clinical Research in Jacksonville, FL and Canton, GA is seeking healthy adults 50 and older to help evaluate an investigational pneumococcal vaccine when given with the flu vaccine.
There is no cost to participate and participants receive study-related vaccines at no cost, free flu vaccine, and will be compensated $50 per office visit.
